What the day will cover...
Minnesota's recent fraud investigations have changed the landscape for human services, bringing increased attention to oversight, accountability, program integrity, and the use of public funds. For disability service providers, that attention has also contributed to significant changes in the environment in which they operate.
This half-day educational forum will take a closer look at what has happened in Minnesota, what has been uncovered, and what providers should understand as the state continues to respond. Attendees will hear from leaders with firsthand experience in oversight and investigative work, including perspectives from Judy Randall, the Office of the Legislative Auditor and former federal prosecutor Joe Thompson. We will look to better understand their work, key findings and experiences, and the broader lessons they believe are important for Minnesota's disability service community.
The afternoon will also include a moderated conversation with Minnesota journalists who have covered fraud and human services issues across the state. Reporters will share their perspective on how these stories developed, what their reporting has uncovered, and how fraud and accountability within human services are being understood and communicated to the public.
Together, these conversations will provide a look at where we've been, what has changed, and what Minnesota disability service providers should be paying attention to moving forward.
