As your association launches into its new strategic plan, there are several new committees and work groups being convened for members to take control and drive the future of not only ARRM, but the future of the whole industry. The role of members serving on these committees is critically important for several reasons:
- It ensures ARRM remains a strong and effective representative association for its members, and ensures the value of your organization’s membership is being maximized.
- It ensures ARRM can continue to be a leader in the state, and nation, in advancing HCBS providers and the rights and opportunities for the people they support.
- It is a great networking and leadership development opportunity for talented staff looking further their careers.
Serving on these groups is open to any employee of an ARRM member, and members are strongly encouraged to contribute talented people from your organization. All ARRM meetings are hosted both in-person and via webinar, so you may participate even if you can’t make it ARRM for every meeting.
Contact us at info@arrm.org if you are interested in joining one of these groups.
Membership Committee
ARRM is launching a Membership Committee as part of the new strategic plan of ARRM. The Membership Committee will provide new insights on membership retention, recruitment, engagement opportunities and other services that would add value and benefit to ARRM members.
The committee will work to increase the number of new members by assessing the value of membership, reviewing the needs of non-profit/profit organizations, review relapsed members, and find new ways to increase membership engagement.
If you have a desire to advance the mission of ARRM, interested in helping develop and implement new strategies for membership engagement and like to find new strategies to advance the benefits of membership…you should join!
The membership committee will meet every other month. The date/time is still to be determined.
Education Committee
ARRM is also launching the Education Committee, tasked with developing new program content for trainings, workshops, and events that advance ARRM’s mission and the knowledge and skill necessary for our members. In addition to continuing the conceptualizing of ARRM’s industry-wide event, the strategic planning process identified the need for a committee dedicated to creating a cohesive and valuable schedule of trainings and conferences. This work of this committee will advance the opportunities and depth of ARRM’s reach as well as further the long-term education goals and objectives of the association.
Committee members will design and guide a core curriculum for career advancement, professional development, as well as the technical standards and expectations of the industry, and ensure it is accessible to member and non-member organizations, both logistically and financially. This is why it’s so important to have a strong group of engaged committee members, as the work of this committee is essential not only to creating a strong education program, but is critical to the overall strength of the association. This group will work closely with the Board of Directors and ARRM staff to navigate a thoughtful and valuable education program.
This committee meets monthly, starting this month in October, but committee membership is always open to join.
Unit-based Services Task Force
Unit-based Services (UBS) are one of the highest demanded services and an important space for HCBS providers to look for growth. However, this is still a relatively new service space, and more critically, there are significant barriers built into the waiver funding, regulations, staffing, and supports needed that make providing these supports a challenge for many organizations.
This task force will begin meeting later this year, and focus on:
- Deeper dive on how each of the services works/what's required/ best practices
- Host UBS-specific educational meetings and speakers
- Identify the major barriers in providing these services
- Identify the DHS staff who are authorities on UBS and build relationships with them
- Gain some collective power so that we can get prompt, accurate answers
- Reduce isolation of service providers/create connections
- Gather UBS-focused ideas and feedback for ARRM’s legislative priorities and agendas
- In the future, work with DHS licensing to help educate licensors
The task force will be co-chaired by Jennifer O’Neill (CEO, Howry Residential Services) and Rhonda Peterson (COO, Integrity Living Options) and will meet every other month, beginning in November.
