245D Licensing Requirements

As 245D is relatively new, there is still a great deal to learn about how to work with the system, and make it work well for providers and the people they serve. In addition, there are some common areas of confusion and misconception that may be causing issues and keeping providers and regulators from effectively using the waiver system. This training on 245D licensing requirements will help providers best use the flexibility that the state’s waiver system allows. Barb Turner, in partnership with DHS, will review the main points of 245D and identify specific areas where ARRM and DHS Licensing have observed common confusion and issues. Attendees will come away with the information they need to confidently utilize 245D and educate others who may be holding on to misconceptions.

This training will be particularly beneficial to middle and upper management, as well as Human Resources staff.

Barb Turner, ARRM Vice President of External Affairs, played a significant role in drafting the original 245D language, as well as the revisions to the licensing system. She has a unique understanding of what is in the licensing language and exactly how it applies to providers.

Jill Slaikeu, Minnesota Department of Human Services, supervises all of 245D licensing across the state.
