Invite Your Legislator To Your Site
This campaign is designed to encourage more legislators to visit group homes this fall/early winter. Meeting the
people you support and your DSPs - and getting a sense of what you do - is the single most important kind of "lobbying" you can do.
Let them see how your work benefits your community. The visit will have been a positive one if the legislator leaves with a
personal connection to you and your mission. We ask that all ARRM members participate in this campaign.
This Is What We Need You To Do:
- Using ARRM's sample invitation - or one of your own - invite your legislator to one of your program sites.
To find out who your legislators are, go online to www.leg.mn and click on "Who represents me?"
You may also call the MN House of Representatives Public Information Office at 651-296-2146 or 800-657-3550, or the MN Senate Information Office at
651-296-0504 or 651-296-2887.
Let us know when you have scheduled a visit, and we'll add your visit to our map. Please email
Daniel at dmcdermott@arrm.org or call her at (651) 291-1086, ext. 0.
- Read ARRM's Site Visit Tips (link below and at left). This information will help you prepare for the visit.
- Be sure to also review lobbying guidelines (link below and at left) before the visit.
- Take photos during the visit, and send a press release to your local newspaper.
- After the visit, please take a moment to fill out a feedback form online, so we can compile your critical information.
Participants will be eligible for a drawing held on February 13th, 2008 for one free FULL admission to the 2008 ARRM Annual Conference.
