Visit Your Legislator At The Capitol

I. PREPARE:

1. Determine who from your agency will visit your legislator at the capitol. We ask that you bring a person served or family member of a person served with you to these visits.

2. Watch the "How to Talk to Your Legislator" video. Click here to watch the video and download related documents. This program works best if you are using Firefox or Internet Explorer as your browser. You will also need Adobe Reader to view the PDFs.

3. Download these tools and use them during your meeting:

II. ACT:

1. Locate your district and legislator. Click here for the District Finder. You may also call the MN House of Representatives Public Information Office at 651-296-2146 or 800-657-3550, or the MN Senate Information Office at 651-296-0504 or 651-296-2887.

2. Schedule a visit with your legislator. Click here to find out when ARRM has scheduled your agency for a capitol visit. Scroll through the months February - May to find your agency. If you cannot visit your legislator at the capitol, schedule a visit when they are back in their/your district.

If the date that ARRM has assigned doesn't work -- no problem! Just let us know which date works better, and we'll move your visit. Now go ahead and schedule a meeting with your legislator!

3. Call Daniel at ARRM at (651)291-1086 ext. 0 and let him know that you have scheduled a visit, or email your information (agency, contact person and email, legislator, date) to dmcDermott@arrm.org.

4. Attend ARRM's Day at the Capitol rally on March 5th at the capitol rotunda.

III. SHARE:

2. View our Advocacy Map, and see what's going on across the state. Check back ofen as we add new information to the map.
